How to add llms.txt to WordPress (no core feature: use Yoast or a file)

Works with a plugin: Yoast SEO writes /llms.txt for you. Plain WordPress has no switch for it. llms.txt is a plain-text map for AI agents, not a ranking factor and not a bot permission. Here is the route WordPress documents, the steps, and a generator that writes the file from your real pages.

Steps on WordPress

Generate your file below and copy it. You can use it as a guide for the pages you want listed.
If you use Yoast SEO: open Yoast SEO > Settings > Site features. Under AI tools open llms.txt, turn the toggle on, click Save changes.
To pick the pages yourself: in the same place open Customize llms.txt file, choose Manual page selection, tick the pages, click Save changes.
Check that no old llms.txt file already sits in your site folder. Yoast does not overwrite one, so remove it first.
Open https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt and run the llms.txt checker on it.

What we read, and how sure we are

Yoast Help Center: How to enable llms.txt with Yoast SEO (checked 3 Nov 2026): Steps: Yoast SEO > Settings > Site Features > under AI tools open LLMS.txt > turn the toggle on > Save changes. To customize: Customize llms.txt file > Manual page selection > choose pages > Save changes. "Please note that llms.txt is not available for multisite." The article states no free or Premium limit for the feature and has no revision date.
Yoast developer docs: llms.txt functional specification (checked 3 Nov 2026): "Enabling the llms.txt feature will create an llms.txt file in the root directory of your website". "This file will be updated weekly by a scheduled action". "When there’s another llms.txt file, we make sure to not overwrite it." You must remove the existing file for Yoast to generate its own.

Not tested by us on a live WordPress site. We searched the WordPress core news and developer blog for an llms.txt setting on 3 Nov 2026 and found none; we could not read the core bug tracker (it blocked us), so we do not say what core plans. Other plugins (All in One SEO, Rank Math and more) also write the file, but we did not read their docs, so the steps here cover Yoast only.
