How to add llms.txt to Wix (what works and what does not)
Works: edit the file Wix serves, in the SEO dashboard. You cannot upload your own root file. llms.txt is a plain-text map for AI agents, not a ranking factor and not a bot permission. Here is the route Wix documents, the steps, and a generator that writes the file from your real pages.
Steps on Wix
- Generate your file below and copy it.
- Your site needs to be upgraded with a connected custom domain and search-engine indexing on (Wix's stated prerequisites).
- In the site dashboard open SEO & GEO, scroll to Tools and settings, click Go to llms.txt.
- Click More actions > Edit file > Next, paste your text, then Save changes.
- Open
https://yourdomain.com/llms.txtand run the llms.txt checker.

What we read, and how sure we are
- Wix Help Center (Japanese): about your site's llms.txt file (checked 2 Nov 2026): Read in Japanese, translated by us. It says editing the file stops automatic updates ("ファイルを編集すると、変更内容は保存するため、自動更新が停止します") and restoring the default resumes them; a toggle next to "llms.txt file use" opts out; the file holds only content already public on the site.
- Wix Dev docs: About the Llms Txt API (checked 2 Nov 2026): "With the Llms Txt API, Wix users can manage the llms.txt file served at their site's root. Wix auto-generates a default file ... Site owners can customize the file or reset it to Wix's default."
- Wix Studio forum (checked 2 Nov 2026): Users report they cannot place a file at the site root or redirect /llms.txt, and a Wix reply says the feature is not available to all sites and is rolling out gradually (we read this through a search summary, not the full thread).
The menu path is from the Japanese help article; the English labels are our translation, so yours may read slightly differently. Wix says the feature is rolling out in stages, so you may not see it yet. We did not test on a live Wix site. Forum workarounds with Velo or a Cloudflare Worker are unverified and not recommended here.
